Childhood days is always reminiscing. Childhood is always so. So was mine.
My Childhood also carries something very unique and special. Among many cherishable childhood moments, contrastingly I was somewhat perceived to be disinterested towards food and was called a “fussy eater” generally by many, outside of the family including distant relatives and family friends.
But not by my Amma (Mother) and Naana (Father), Maternal grandmother, Paternal Grandmother and easily a dozen of other second cousin families probably they knew my niche for perfect food- Authentic Food. I was always known for relishing authentic and perfect food. I was also very well known for pointing out even the smallest imperfection in recipes and dishes.
My Maternal grandmother, Paternal Grandmother and the dozen of other second cousin families always use to say that I have completely gone by my mother. In fact, my competence was told to be few notches above my mother in looking out for perfect and authentic food. This genetic competence was possible only because my mother has been a great cook and a highly capable chef known for her exclusive South Indian Pure Vegetarian Brahmin Cuisine recipes. Her magical touch of class in cooking, tasty, authentic South Indian pure vegetarian food has always been revered as a big boon by many in the family, friends, colleagues, family friends and neighbours as well.
From Childhood days till date, all my known people right from my formative years till date still wait for an invite at my home for that mouth-watering and finger licking dishes. Further they get food packed and carry food back to their homes. Many used to pay for groceries or bring groceries to get Blended Spice Powders and Ready to eat mixes prepared by her and take it back to their homes.
Such was the aura of my mom’s cooking, suggestions poured in to start selling Blended spice powders, Masala Powders and many more ready-mix food items. On the other hand, I always wanted people to know the essence of authentically perfected food recipes, its goodness, its nutritional value, its eloquent taste, the fresh aroma and delicacy,
Hence, comes up the Brand “Sastry’s”.
Sastry’s shall portray the “symbol of bringing back the aura of traditional and cultural goodness”. It shall represent as a brand to Create awareness among people on centuries old culture, tradition, practices known for invaluable goodness. The brand shall speak /represent our eternally strong roots in cultural, traditional nutritive foods and centuries old recipes known to bring back the real happiness in life.
My Inspiration-My Mother
My mother is an icon for her natural cooking skills, knowledge and expertise in preparing authentic and traditional recipes, yet not restricted to it but always has specialty skills and has been very creative and innovative in enriching the recipes.
Her recipes, are authentic and centuries-old dishes but crafted to perfection, combined with a class of nutritional touch. She spontaneously experiments and innovates new recipes out of traditional ingredients and it comes naturally to her. Her food preparations and recipes has always been a craving among us, our family members, friends, relatives, family friends, neighbors, and among my colleagues for almost 3 decades now that I have seen.
Her aura of cooking expertise through her excellence, perfection and specialty skills in preparing authentic and delicious food recipes provides that distinctiveness to the brand SASTRY’S. My father being a great foodie, was very very particular to tastes, texture, aroma, quality and delicacy of the recipes, this led to her becoming a great master chef.
